The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord who created - 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Recite: and your Lord is Most Generous, 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 taught Man that he knew not. 5 And yet, but yet man is rebellious, 6 That he thinketh himself independent! 7 Surely to your Lord is the return. 8 What do you think? Have you seen he who forbids 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 Or he commandeth piety? 12 Did you consider: what if he gives the lie (to the Truth) and turns away (from it)? 13 Does he not know that God sees? 14 Yes certainly, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock. 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then, let him call upon his council (of helpers), 17 We will now call the guards! 18 No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah]. ۩ 19
