The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord who created - 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous - 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Yes indeed, man is surely rebellious. 6 whenever he believes himself to be self-sufficient: 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the returning. 8 Have you seen one who prevents 9 a servant (of Allah) when he prays? 10 What will happen if the praying person is rightly guided 11 or enjoins true piety? 12 Do you see how he has denied the truth and turned away from it? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Let him beware! If he does not desist, We will drag him by the forelock -- 15 his lying, sinful forelock. 16 and then let him summon [to his aid] the counsels of his own [spurious] wisdom, 17 We will call the guards of hell. 18 (Muhammad), never yield to him! Prostrate yourself and try to come closer to God. ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
