A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif-Lam-Mim-Sad. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. 1 (This is the) Book (the Quran) sent down unto you (O Muhammad SAW), so let not your breast be narrow therefrom, that you warn thereby, and a reminder unto the believers. 2 (Saying): Follow that which is sent down unto you from your Lord, and follow no protecting friends beside Him. Little do ye recollect! 3 How many towns have We destroyed (for their sins)? Our punishment took them on a sudden by night or while they slept for their afternoon rest. 4 No cry did they utter when Our Torment came upon them but this: "Verily, we were Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc.)". 5 Then surely, We shall question those (people) to whom it (the Book) was sent and verily, We shall question the Messengers. 6 Then most certainly We will relate to them with knowledge, and We were not absent. 7 And the measuring out on that day will be just; then as for him whose measure (of good deeds) is heavy, those are they who shall be successful; 8 Those whose scale will be light, will be their souls in perdition, for that they wrongfully treated Our signs. 9 And surely, We gave you authority on the earth and appointed for you therein provisions (for your life). Little thanks do you give. 10
