A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif-Laam-Meem-Saad. (Alphabets of the Arabic language; Allah and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) 1 A book has been revealed to you, (Muhammad). You should not hesitate to convey its warning and its good advice to the believers. 2 Follow, [O mankind], what has been revealed to you from your Lord and do not follow other than Him any allies. Little do you remember. 3 How many a village have We laid in ruin! In the night Our Might fell upon it, or at midday when they were drowsy. 4 and they but cried, when Our might came upon there, 'We were evildoers.'; 5 We will question those to whom Our Message was sent, as We shall question the Messengers. 6 Then We will surely relate [their deeds] to them with knowledge, and We were not [at all] absent. 7 The balance that day will be true (to nicety): those whose scale (of good) will be heavy, will prosper: 8 And as for him whose measure (of good deeds) is light those are they who have made their souls suffer loss because they disbelieved in Our communications. 9 And surely, We gave you authority on the earth and appointed for you therein provisions (for your life). Little thanks do you give. 10
