Do not the people who inherited the earth from the (earlier) inhabitants perceive that We could afflict them too for their sins if We pleased, and put seals on their hearts that they may not hear (the voice of truth)? 100 To those [earlier] communities - some of whose stories We relate to you - there had indeed come Messengers with clear proofs, but they would not believe what they had once rejected as false. Thus it is that Allah seals the hearts of those who deny the truth. 101 We did not find many of them faithful to their promises, and found many of them disobedient. 102 Then We sent, after them, Moses with Our signs to Pharaoh and his Council, but they did them wrong; so behold thou, how was the end of the workers of corruption! 103 Moses said: "O Pharaoh, I have been sent by the Lord of all the worlds; 104 "Proper it is for me that I say nothing concerning Allah but the truth. Indeed I have come unto you from your Lord with a clear proof. So let the Children of Israel depart along with me." 105 The Pharaoh asked Moses to show his miracles if he was telling the truth. 106 Therefore Moosa put down his staff – it immediately turned into a visible python. 107 And putting his hand in his bosom, withdrew it – so it shone brightly before the beholders. 108
