The assembly of Pharaoh's nation said: 'This man is a wellversed sorcerer 109 "He wishes to drive you away from the land. So what do you advise?" 110 They answered: "Let him and his brother wait awhile, and send unto all cities heralds 111 to summon every skilful magician to your presence.' 112 And the magicians came to Pharaoh and said: 'Shall we have a reward if we win?' 113 He said, "Yes, and, [moreover], you will be among those made near [to me]." 114 They said: O Musa! either thou cast down, or we shall be the ones to cast down. 115 He said, 'You cast.' And when they cast they put a Spell upon the people's eyes, and called forth fear of them, and produced a mighty sorcery. 116 And We inspired Musa (Moses) (saying): "Throw your stick," and behold! It swallowed up straight away all the falsehoods which they showed. 117 ۞ So, the truth prevailed and what they were doing was annulled; 118 Thus they were overcome and made to look abject. 119 And the magicians fell down in prostration [to Allah]. 120 saying: 'We believe in the Lord of the universe, 121 The Lord of Moses and Aaron." 122 Said Pharaoh, "You believed in him before I gave you permission. Indeed, this is a conspiracy which you conspired in the city to expel therefrom its people. But you are going to know. 123 Surely I will cut off your hands and feet on the opposite sides and thereafter I will crucify you all. 124 They replied, "We shall surely return to our Lord. 125 Thou takest vengeance on us only forasmuch as we believed the tokens of our Lord when they came unto us. Our Lord! Vouchsafe unto us steadfastness and make us die as men who have surrendered (unto Thee). 126
