۞ It is He who created you from a single cell, and from it created its mate, that you may live as companions. When the man covered the woman she conceived a light burden and carried it about. And when she was heavy (with child) they prayed together to their Lord: "If You bestow a healthy son on us we shall truly be grateful." 189 But when He gives them a good one, they set up with Him associates in what He has given them; but high is Allah above what they associate (with Him). 190 Do they associate with Him those who create nothing and they are [themselves] created? 191 They have no power to help others. nor can they help themselves. 192 And if you call them to guidance, they follow you not. It is the same for you whether you call them or you keep silent. 193 Verily, all those whom you invoke beside God are but created beings like yourselves: invoke them, then, and let them answer your prayer - if what you claim is true! 194 Have they feet wherewith they walk, or have they hands wherewith they hold, or have they eyes wherewith they see, or have they ears wherewith they hear? Say: Call upon your (so-called) partners (of Allah), and then contrive against me, spare me not! 195 Verily, my protector is God, who has bestowed this divine writ from on high: for it is He who protects the righteous, 196 whereas all those whom you invoke in His stead are neither able to give you succour nor can succour themselves; 197 And if you were to call them to true guidance, they will not hear; and you observe them looking at you whereas they have no power to see.' 198 Keep to forgiveness (O Muhammad), and enjoin kindness, and turn away from the ignorant. 199 And if a false imputation from the Shaitan afflict you, seek refuge in Allah; surely He is Hearing, Knowing. 200 Indeed, when a visitation of satan touches the cautious (worshipers) they remember, and then see clearly. 201 But (as for) their brothers (the devils) they (i.e. the devils) plunge them deeper into error, and they never stop short. 202 If thou bring them not a revelation, they say: "Why hast thou not got it together?" Say: "I but follow what is revealed to me from my Lord: this is (nothing but) lights from your Lord, and Guidance, and mercy, for any who have faith." 203 When the Quran is read, listen to it with attention, and hold your peace, so that you may receive mercy. 204 And remember [O Prophet] your Lord in your mind, with humility and fear, and without raising your voice; remember Him in the morning and evening, and do not become of those who are negligent. 205 [even] the ones [angels] who live in the presence of your Lord are not too proud to worship Him: they glorify Him and prostrate themselves before Him. ۩ 206
