۞ It is He who created you out of one living soul, and made of him his spouse that he might rest in her. Then, when he covered her, she bore a light burden and passed by with it; but when it became heavy they cried to God their Lord, 'If Thou givest us a righteous son, we indeed shall be of the thankful.' 189 But when He gives them a good one, they set up with Him associates in what He has given them; but high is Allah above what they associate (with Him). 190 Do they associate those with Him who cannot create a thing, and are themselves created, 191 And cannot give them help, nor can they help themselves? 192 If you call them to guidance they will not follow you. It is all the same if you call them or hold your tongue. 193 Lo! those on whom ye call beside Allah are slaves like unto you. Call on them now, and let them answer you, if ye are truthful! 194 Have they feet to walk with? Have they hands to hold with? Have they eyes to see with? Have they ears to hear with? Say, "Call upon those you associate with God as partners, then all of you contrive against me and give me no respite. 195 "Verily, my Wali (Protector, Supporter, and Helper, etc.) is Allah Who has revealed the Book (the Quran), and He protects (supports and helps) the righteous. 196 And those whom ye call upon besides Him cannot succour you nor themselves they can succour. 197 and if you pray unto them for guidance, they do not hear; and though thou mayest imagine that they behold thee, they do not see." 198 Hold to forgiveness; command what is right; But turn away from the ignorant. 199 If an evil impulse from Satan provokes you, seek refuge with God; He is all hearing, and all knowing. 200 If the God-fearing are instigated by any suggestion of Satan, they instantly become alert, whereafter they clearly perceive the right way. 201 As for their brethren [the Satans], they draw them deeper into error and do not relax in their efforts. 202 And when you bring them not a revelation they say: Why do you not forge it? Say: I only follow what is revealed to me from my Lord; these are clear proofs from your Lord and a guidance and a mercy for a people who believe. 203 Hence, when the Qur'an is voiced, hearken unto it, and listen in silence, so that you might be graced with [God's] mercy." 204 And remember [O Prophet] your Lord in your mind, with humility and fear, and without raising your voice; remember Him in the morning and evening, and do not become of those who are negligent. 205 [even] the ones [angels] who live in the presence of your Lord are not too proud to worship Him: they glorify Him and prostrate themselves before Him. ۩ 206
