Believers, obey God and His Messenger, and do not turn away from him now that you have heard all. 20 And do not be like those who say: 'We hear', though they do not hearken. 21 ۞ Indeed the worst kind of all beasts in the sight of Allah are the people that are deaf and dumb, and do not understand. 22 Had they possessed any virtue, God would certainly have made them hear. Even if God were to make them hear, they would still turn away from (the words of God). 23 O you who have attained to faith! Respond to the call of God and the Apostle whenever he calls you unto that which will give you life; and know that God intervenes between man and [the desires of] his heart, and that unto Him you shall be gathered. 24 And fear the turmoil which will certainly not fall only upon a few selected unjust people among you; and know that Allah’s punishment is severe. 25 And recall when you were few in numbers and deemed weak in the land, fearful lest people do away with you. Then He provided you refuge, strengthened you with His help, and provided you sustenance with good things that you may be grateful. 26 O you who believe, do not be faithless to God and His Apostle, nor violate your trusts knowingly. 27 Know that your children and your wealth are but a temptation, and that the reward with Allah is great. 28
