O people, eat of what is lawful and clean in the earth and do not follow the ways of Satan, for he is your avowed enemy. 168 For he commands you what is evil and shameful, and that ye should say of Allah that of which ye have no knowledge. 169 When it is said to them: "Follow what God has revealed," they reply: "No, we shall follow only what our fathers had practiced," -- even though their fathers had no wisdom or guidance! 170 The likeness of those who disbelieve (in relation to the messenger) is as the likeness of one who calleth unto that which heareth naught except a shout and cry. Deaf, dumb, blind, therefore they have no sense. 171 O you who believe! eat of the good things that We have provided you with, and give thanks to Allah if Him it is that you serve. 172 He has only forbidden you what dies of itself, and blood, and flesh of swine, and that over which any other (name) than (that of) Allah has been invoked; but whoever is driven to necessity, not desiring, nor exceeding the limit, no sin shall be upon him; surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. 173 Verily those who hide that which Allah hath sent down in the Book and Purchase therewith a small gain, these are they who eat in their bellies naught but Fire. Allah will not speak unto them on the Day of Resurrection, nor purify them; and unto them shall be a torment afflictive. 174 Those are the ones who have exchanged guidance for error and forgiveness for punishment. How patient they are in pursuit of the Fire! 175 This shall be because Allah hath verily sent down the Book with truth: and verily those who differ respecting the Book are surely in cleavage wide. 176
