We created mankind from clay, molded from mud, 26 and the jinn created We before of fire flaming. 27 Recall when your Lord said to the angels: "I will indeed bring into being a human being out of dry ringing clay wrought from black mud. 28 When I have formed him and breathed My spirit into him, fall down in prostration before him," 29 All the angels prostrated themselves, 30 Not so Iblis: he refused to be among those who prostrated themselves. 31 He said: O Iblis! What aileth thee that thou art not among the prostrate? 32 He said it was not for me that I should prostrate myself unto a human being whom Thou hast created from ringing clay of loam moulded. 33 "Go hence, execrable," (said the Lord), "from this place, 34 and will be subjected to condemnation until the Day of Judgment." 35 Said [Iblis]: "Then, O my Sustainer, grant me a respite till the Day when all shall be raised from the dead!" 36 He said: So surely you are of the respited ones 37 Until the Day of the time well-known." 38 "O my Lord," he said, "since You have led me into error I'll beguile them with the pleasures of the world and lead them astray, 39 “Except those among them who are Your chosen bondmen.” 40 He said: This is a right way with Me: 41 Surely, you shall have no power over My true servants, except those misguided ones who choose to follow you. 42 "And surely, Hell is the promised place for them all. 43 "It (Hell) has seven gates, for each of those gates is a (special) class (of sinners) assigned. 44
