So, when the envoys came to the folk of Lot, 61 He said, “You are an unfamiliar people.” 62 They said: Nay, but we bring thee that concerning which they keep disputing, 63 And we have come to you with truth, and indeed, we are truthful. 64 So set out thou with thy house hold in a portion of the night, and follow thou their backs, and let not one of you look back, and pass whither ye are commanded. 65 And We made known to him this decree that the wrongdoers were to be utterly cut off in the morning. 66 And the people of the city came [unto Lot,] rejoicing at the glad tiding. 67 He said, 'These are my guests; put me not to shame, 68 "And do not disgrace me. Have some fear of God." 69 They replied: "Did we not forbid you again and again to extend hospitality to all and sundry?" 70 He said: 'Here are my daughters; take them (in marriage), if you would be doing' 71 By your life! they were blindly wandering on in their intoxication. 72 And thereupon the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at the time of sunrise, 73 and We turned it uppermost nethermost and rained on it stones of baked clay. 74 Behold! in this are Signs for those who by tokens do understand. 75 it is still there on the highway -- 76 Verily there is a Sign in this for the believers. 77 And the companions of the thicket were [also] wrongdoers. 78 On them, too, We took vengeance, and they are both on a clear roadway. 79
