At length when the messengers arrived among the adherents of Lut, 61 He said: "Verily! You are people unknown to me." 62 They said: Nay, but we bring thee that concerning which they keep disputing, 63 And we have come to you with the truth, and we are most surely truthful. 64 Depart with your family in a part of the night and walk behind them and let none of you turn round. Go to a place where you are commanded' 65 We informed him that the unbelievers would be utterly destroyed. 66 The people of the town rejoicingly 67 [Lout (Lot)] said: "Verily! these are my guests, so shame me not. 68 "But fear Allah, and shame me not." 69 They replied, "Did we not forbid you to bring anyone to your house?" 70 He said: These are my daughters, if you will do (aught). 71 By your life, they wandered blindly in their dazzlement. 72 and the Cry seized them at the sunrise, 73 We laid it (the city) upside down and rained stones of baked clay upon them. 74 Surely, in that there are signs for those who contemplate. 75 And indeed, those cities are [situated] on an established road. 76 In this there is evidence (of the Truth) for the believers. 77 And the dwellers in the wood [i.e. the people of Madyan (Midian) to whom Prophet Shu'aib was sent by Allah), were also Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc.). 78 and so We inflicted Our retribution on them. And behold, both these [sinful communities] lived by a highway, [to this day] plain to see 79
