People of Hijr rejected the Messengers. 80 We gave them Our signs, but they turned away from them. 81 Out of the mountains did they hew (their) edifices, (feeling themselves) secure. 82 But the shriek seized them at early morning. 83 Therefore their earnings did not in the least benefit them. 84 AND [remember:] We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them without [an inner] truth; but, behold, the Hour [when this will become clear to all] is indeed yet to come. Hence, forgive [men's failings] with fair forbearance: 85 For verily it is thy Lord who is the Master-Creator, knowing all things. 86 (Muhammad), We have given you the seven most repeated (verses) and the great Quran. 87 Do not strain your eyes after what We have given certain classes of them to enjoy, and do not grieve for them, and make yourself gentle to the believers. 88 And say: Surely I am the plain warner. 89 (Of a punishment) Like the one We sent down upon the dividers. 90 and also divided the Quran believing in some parts and rejecting others. 91 So, by your Lord, We would most certainly question them all, 92 About what they used to do. 93 Preach what you have been commanded to and stay away from the pagans. 94 For sufficient are We unto thee against those who scoff,- 95 Who set up along with Allah another ilah (god), they will come to know. 96 And indeed We know that you are disheartened by their speech. 97 Exalt with the praise of your Lord and be one of those who prostrate. 98 and worship your Lord until what is certain [death] comes to you. 99
