And certainly did the companions of Thamud deny the messengers. 80 We showed them miracles but they ignored them. 81 They were hewing the mountains into houses, therein dwelling securely; 82 But they were seized by the mighty blast towards the morning; 83 All that they had acquired was of no avail to them. 84 We have not created but with reason the heavens and the earth and all that lies within them. The Hour (of the great change) is certain to come. So turn away (from them) with a grace. 85 Verily, your Lord is the All-Knowing Creator. 86 We have given thee seven of the oft-repeated (verses) and the great Qur'an. 87 Strain not thine eyes toward that which We cause some wedded pairs among them to enjoin, and be not grieved on their account, and lower thy wing (in tenderness) for the believers. 88 And say, "Indeed, I am the clear warner" - 89 So We sent it down to the partitioners, 90 Those who have made the scripture bits. 91 By your Lord, We will question them all 92 As to what they did. 93 Promulgate thou that which thou art commanded, and turn away from the associaters. 94 Truly! We will suffice you against the scoffers. 95 who set up another god with God, but they shall soon learn. 96 We are well aware that you are disheartened by what they say. 97 So glorify the praises of your Lord and be of those who prostrate themselves (to Him). 98 and worship thy Sustainer till death comes to thee. 99

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
