The day We shall call a witness from every people, the unbelievers will not be allowed to make excuses. 84 Once the wrong-doers have beheld the chastisement, neither will it be lightened for them nor will they be granted any respite. 85 And when those who ascribed partners to Allah behold those partners of theirs, they will say: Our Lord! these are our partners unto whom we used to cry instead of Thee. But they will fling to them the saying: Lo! ye verily are liars! 86 And they will offer (their full) submission to Allah (Alone) on that Day, and their invented false deities [all that they used to invoke besides Allah, e.g. idols, saints, priests, monks, angels, jinns, Jibrael (Gabriel), Messengers, etc.] will vanish from them. 87 (As for) those who disbelieve and turn away from Allah's way, We will add chastisement to their chastisement because they made mischief. 88 And [mention] the Day when We will resurrect among every nation a witness over them from themselves. And We will bring you, [O Muhammad], as a witness over your nation. And We have sent down to you the Book as clarification for all things and as guidance and mercy and good tidings for the Muslims. 89
