They ask you about revelation. Say, revelation is by the command of your Lord, and that you have been given but little knowledge. 85 If it were Our Will, We could take away that which We have sent thee by inspiration: then wouldst thou find none to plead thy affair in that matter as against Us,- 86 except by the mercy of your Lord. He has certainly bestowed great favors on you. 87 Say: Verily, though mankind and the jinn should assemble to produce the like of this Qur'an, they could not produce the like thereof though they were helpers one of another. 88 In this Quran, We have set out all kinds of examples for people, yet most of them persist in denying the truth. 89 And they say: "We shall not believe in you (O Muhammad SAW), until you cause a spring to gush forth from the earth for us; 90 or thou have a garden of date-palms and vines and cause rivers to gush forth in their midst in a sudden rush, 91 or you cause the heavens to fall down on us in pieces, as you have claimed; or you bring God and the angels before us face to face; 92 "Or thou have a house adorned with gold, or thou mount a ladder right into the skies. No, we shall not even believe in thy mounting until thou send down to us a book that we could read." Say: "Glory to my Lord! Am I aught but a man,- a messenger?" 93
