They will question thee concerning the Spirit. Say: 'The Spirit is of the bidding of my Lord. You have been given of knowledge nothing except a little.' 85 If We pleased We could take away what We have revealed to you. Then you will not find any one to plead for it with Us, 86 except through the special mercy of your Lord. His favours towards you has been great indeed. 87 Say, "If mankind and the jinn gathered in order to produce the like of this Qur'an, they could not produce the like of it, even if they were to each other assistants." 88 And indeed We have illustrated all kinds of examples in the Qur’an for mankind – so most men did not accept, except to be ungrateful. 89 They say: "We shall not believe in thee, until thou cause a spring to gush forth for us from the earth, 90 "Or (until) thou have a garden of date trees and vines, and cause rivers to gush forth in their midst, carrying abundant water; 91 Or, let chunks of sky fall over us, as you assert (you will); or, bring God and the angels as a surety; 92 or till thou possessest a house of gold ornament, or till thou goest up into heaven; and we will not believe thy going up till thou bringest down on us a book that we may read. Say: 'Glory be to my Lord. Am I aught but a mortal, a Messenger?' 93
