AND CALL to mind, through this divine writ, Abraham. Behold, he was a man of truth, [already] a prophet 41 Recall what time he said unto his father: O my father! wherefore worshippest thou that which heareth not and seeth not, nor availeth thee at all? 42 Father, I have received the knowledge which has not been given to you. Follow me; I shall guide you to the right path. 43 Why do you worship Satan, O father? Verily Satan was disobedient to Ar-Rahman. 44 O My father! verily I fear that there may touch thee a torment from the Compassionate so that thou become to the Satan a companion. 45 His father replied, "Abraham, are you telling me to give-up my gods? If you will not stop this, I shall stone you to death. Leave my house and do not come back again". 46 Abraham said, "Peace be with you. I shall ask my Lord to forgive you; He has been gracious to me. 47 And I will withdraw from you and what you call on besides Allah, and I will call upon my Lord; may be I shall not remain unblessed in calling upon my Lord. 48 So when he had left them and those they worshipped other than Allah, We gave him Isaac and Jacob, and each [of them] We made a prophet. 49 and We bestowed on them Our mercy, and granted them a truly lofty renown. 50
