Commemorate Abraham in the Book: He was upright, a prophet. 41 When he said to his father,* “O my father – why do you worship one which neither hears nor sees, and cannot benefit you in any way?” (* His uncle Azar.) 42 Father, I have been given some knowledge which has not come to you, so follow me: I shall guide you along a straight path. 43 Father, do not worship satan; he has disobeyed the Beneficent God. 44 Father, I am afraid that the Beneficent God's torment will strike you and you will become a friend of satan." 45 He said: art thou averse to my gods, O Ibrahim? If thou desistest not, surely I shall stone thee; and depart from me for ever so long. 46 He said, “Stop it – peace be upon you; I shall seek forgiveness for you from my Lord; indeed He is very kind to me.” 47 And I renounce you and that unto which ye call beside Allah; and I shall call unto my Lord; belike in calling unto my Lord I shall not be unblest. 48 So when he had left them and those they worshipped other than Allah, We gave him Isaac and Jacob, and each [of them] We made a prophet. 49 And bestowed on them some of Our blessings, and gave them high renown. 50
