T H (Taa Haa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Ta. Ha. 1 We have not revealed unto thee (Muhammad) this Qur'an that thou shouldst be distressed, 2 But only as an admonition unto him who feareth. 3 it is a revelation from Him who has created the earth and the high heavens, 4 The Compassionate on the Throne is established. 5 To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth, and whatever lies in between them, and all that lies under the ground. 6 Whether you speak aloud [or in a low voice], He hears all, for He knows your secrets and what is even more hidden. 7 Allah-- there is no god but He; His are the very best names. 8 And has the story of Moses reached you? - 9 When he saw a fire he said to his family: "You wait here. I have seen a fire. I may haply be able to bring an ember from it, or find direction by the fire." 10 But when he came to the fire, a voice was heard: "O Moses! 11 Verily I am your Lord! Take off your shoes. You are in the sacred valley, Tuwa! 12 I have chosen you, so listen to what is revealed to you. 13 I am God, and there is no god but I, so serve Me, and observe acts of prayer to remember Me. 14 Verily the Hour (of the great change) is about to come. I keep it secret that every soul may be rewarded for its endeavour. 15 Therefor, let not him turn thee aside from (the thought of) it who believeth not therein but followeth his own desire, lest thou perish. 16 "And what is that in your right hand, O Musa (Moses)?" 17 He said, “This is my staff; I support myself on it, and I knock down leaves for my sheep with it, and there are other uses for me in it.” 18 (Allah) said, "Throw it, O Moses!" 19 So he threw it - and lo! it was a snake, moving rapidly. 20 He said, “Pick it up and do not fear; We shall restore it to its former state.” 21 And press thy hand to thy side, it will come forth white, without hurt, as another sign. 22 That We may show you of Our greater signs: 23 Go to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed." 24
