When We said to the angels, "Prostrate yourselves before Adam," they all prostrated themselves, except for Satan, who refused, 116 We therefore said, “O Adam, he is your and your wife’s enemy, so may he not get you both out from heaven, so you then fall into hardship.” 117 Behold, it is provided for thee that thou shalt not hunger here or feel naked, 118 And that you shall not be thirsty therein nor shall you feel the heat of the sun. 119 Then Satan whispered to him; he said, "O Adam, shall I direct you to the tree of eternity and possession that will not deteriorate?" 120 Adam and his wife ate (fruits) from the tree and found themselves naked. Then they started to cover themselves with the leaves from the garden. Adam disobeyed his Lord and went astray. 121 Then his Lord chose him, and relented toward him, and guided him. 122 God said, "Go down, both of you, from here, as enemies to one another." If there comes to you guidance from Me, then whoever follows My guidance will not lose his way, nor will he come to grief, 123 But whosoever turns away from this Admonition from Me shall have a straitened life; We shall raise him blind on the Day of Resurrection," 124 'My Lord' he will say: 'why have You raised me blind when I was able to see' 125 (God) will say: "Because Our signs came to you, but you disregarded them. So shall We disregard you this day." 126 For, thus shall We recompense him who wastes his own self and does not believe in his Sustainer's messages: and indeed, the suffering [of such sinners] in the life to come shall be most severe and most enduring! 127 Is it not a guidance to them, how many generations We destroyed before them in whose dwelling places they walk? Surely, in this there are signs for those of reason. 128
