The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Their reckoning draweth nigh for mankind, while they turn away in heedlessness. 1 Never does a new reminder come to them from their Lord but they listen to it with dalliance. 2 their hearts set on passing delights; yet they who are [thus] bent on wrongdoing conceal their innermost thoughts [when they say to one another,] "Is this [Muhammad] anything but a mortal like yourselves? Will you, then, yield to [his] spellbinding eloquence with your eyes open?" 3 Say: "My Sustainer knows whatever is spoken in heaven and on earth; and He alone is all-hearing, all-knowing." 4 "Nay," they say, "(these are) medleys of dream! - Nay, He forged it! - Nay, He is (but) a poet! Let him then bring us a Sign like the ones that were sent to (Prophets) of old!" 5 Not one township that We destroyed before them believed. Would they, then, believe? 6 And We sent not before you, [O Muhammad], except men to whom We revealed [the message], so ask the people of the message if you do not know. 7 and neither did We endow them with bodies that could dispense with food nor were they immortal. 8 Then we fulfilled the promise unto them. So we delivered them and whom We would, and We destroyed the prodigals. 9 Now We have revealed unto you a Scripture wherein is your Reminder. Have ye then no sense? 10
