The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The time of people's reckoning has drawn near, and yet they turn aside in heedlessness. 1 Whenever a new revelation comes to them from their Lord, they listen to it in a playful manner, 2 With their hearts occupied (with evil things) those who do wrong, conceal their private counsels, (saying): "Is this (Muhammad SAW) more than a human being like you? Will you submit to magic while you see it?" 3 Say: "My Lord knoweth (every) word (spoken) in the heavens and on earth: He is the One that heareth and knoweth (all things)." 4 Aye! they say: a medley of dreams; aye! he hath fabricated it; aye! he is a poet; so let him bring us a sign even as the ancients were sent with. 5 The people of the town whom We had destroyed also had no faith. Will these people then believe in God? 6 (O Muhammad), even before you We never sent any other than human beings as Messengers, and to them We sent revelation. Ask the People of the Book if you do not know. 7 We did not make their bodies immune to hunger, nor were they immortal. 8 Then We fulfilled to them the promise, and We saved them and those whom We willed, but We destroyed Al-Musrifun (i.e. extravagants in oppression, polytheism and in sin). 9 We have sent a Book, (the Quran), which is an honor for you. Will you then not understand? 10
