۞ To Abraham We gave the right guidance and We knew him very well. 51 Abraham asked his father and his people, "What are these statues which you worship?" 52 They replied, "We found our fathers worshipping them". 53 He said, “Indeed you all – you and your forefathers – were in open error.” 54 They said: "Are you speaking in earnest, or only jesting?" 55 Abraham replied, "Your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, who created them, and I bear witness to that. 56 By Allah, I shall certainly carry out my plan against your gods after you are gone." 57 He broke all the idols into pieces, except the biggest among them so that perhaps people would refer to it. 58 They said: Who has done this to our gods? Most surely he is one of the unjust. 59 Some said, "We heard a young man, called Abraham, talking about them." 60 They said: bring him then before the eyes of the people, haply they may bear witness. 61 (On Abraham's arrival) they said: "Abraham, are you he who has done this to our gods?" 62 He said: rather he hath wrought it, this big one of them; so question them, if they ever speak. 63 So they returned to [blaming] themselves and said [to each other], "Indeed, you are the wrongdoers." 64 then they hung their heads, and said, "O Abraham! You know they cannot speak." 65 Abraham said: "Do you, then, worship beside Allah a thing that can neither benefit you nor hurt you? 66 Woe to you for what you worship instead of God. Have you no understanding?" 67 They said: "Burn him and help your aliha (gods), if you will be doing." 68 We said to the fire, "Be cool and peaceful (with Abraham)". 69 They had devised an evil plan (against Abraham), but We turned it into failure." 70 and We delivered him, and Lot, unto the land that We had blessed for all beings. 71 And We gave him Isaac and Jacob in addition, and all [of them] We made righteous. 72 We appointed them as leaders to guide the people through Our command and sent them revelation to strive for good deeds, worship their Lord, and pay religious tax. Both of them were Our worshipping servants. 73 To Lot We gave knowledge and wisdom and saved him from the people of the town who were committing indecent acts. They were certainly a bad and sinful people. 74 And We admitted him to Our Mercy: for he was one of the Righteous. 75
