۞ We bestowed aforetime on Abraham his rectitude of conduct, and well were We acquainted with him. 51 when he said unto his father and his people, "What are these images to which you are so intensely devoted?" 52 They said, "We found our fathers worshippers of them." 53 Abraham said, "Indeed, you and your fathers have been clearly misguided." 54 They said: "Are you speaking in earnest, or only jesting?" 55 'No' he answered, 'your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, the Originator of them, and I am among those bearing witness to it. 56 By Allah, I shall certainly carry out my plan against your gods after you are gone." 57 He broke them all into pieces, except their great one so that they might return to it. 58 They said, “Who has done this to our Gods? He is indeed cruel!” 59 They said: We heard a youth make mention of them, who is called Abraham. 60 They said, 'Bring him before the people's eyes; haply they shall bear witness.' 61 They said, "Abraham, was it you who did this to our deities?" 62 [Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: "Nay, this one, the biggest of them (idols) did it. Ask them, if they can speak!" 63 So they returned to [blaming] themselves and said [to each other], "Indeed, you are the wrongdoers." 64 But then they relapsed into their former way of thinking and said: "Thou knowest very well that these [idols] cannot speak!" 65 Said [Abraham]: "Do you then worship, instead of God, something that cannot benefit you in any way, nor harm you? 66 "Fie upon you, and upon the things that ye worship besides Allah! Have ye no sense?".. 67 They cried: Burn him and stand by your gods, if ye will be doing. 68 We said: O fire, be coolness and peace for Abraham, 69 And they wished to set a snare for him, but We made them the greater losers. 70 And We rescued him and Lout (Lot) to the land which We have blessed for the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns). 71 And We bestowed on him Isaac and, as an additional gift, (a grandson), Jacob, and We made righteous men of every one (of them). 72 And We made them chiefs who guide by Our command, and We inspired in them the doing of good deeds and the right establishment of worship and the giving of alms, and they were worshippers of Us (alone). 73 And (as for) Lut, We gave him wisdom and knowledge, and We delivered him from the town which wrought abominations; surely they were an evil people, transgressors; 74 And We admitted him into Our mercy. Verily he was of the righteous. 75
