Pilgrimage (Al-Hajj)
78 verses, revealed in Medina after Light (Al-Noor) before The Hypocrites (Al-Munaafeqoon)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Mankind! fear your Lord; verily the quake of the Hour shall be a thing mighty. 1 On the day when ye behold it, every nursing mother will forget her nursling and every pregnant one will be delivered of her burden, and thou (Muhammad) wilt see mankind as drunken, yet they will not be drunken, but the Doom of Allah will be strong (upon them). 2 And among men there is such a one that disputes concerning God without knowledge and follows every rebel Satan, 3 For him (the devil) it is decreed that whosoever follows him, he will mislead him, and will drive him to the torment of the Fire. [Tafsir At-Tabari] 4 O mankind! if ye are in doubt concerning the Resurrection, then lo! We have created you from dust, then from a drop of seed, then from a clot, then from a little lump of flesh shapely and shapeless, that We may make (it) clear for you. And We cause what We will to remain in the wombs for an appointed time, and afterward We bring you forth as infants, then (give you growth) that ye attain your full strength. And among you there is he who dieth (young), and among you there is he who is brought back to the most abject time of life, so that, after knowledge, he knoweth naught. And thou (Muhammad) seest the earth barren, but when We send down water thereon, it doth thrill and swell and put forth every lovely kind (of growth). 5 This is because Allah is the Truth and because He gives life to the dead and because He has power over all things 6 And because the Last Day will come, there is no doubt in it – and because Allah will revive those who are in the graves. 7 Yet there are some who contend about God without any knowledge or guidance or enlightening Book, 8 Bending his neck in pride (far astray from the Path of Allah), and leading (others) too (far) astray from the Path of Allah. For him there is disgrace in this worldly life, and on the Day of Resurrection We shall make him taste the torment of burning (Fire). 9 “This is the recompense of what your hands have sent ahead, and Allah does not oppress His bondmen." 10
