The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Prosperous are the believers 1 Who are humble in their prayers, 2 And who keep aloof from what is vain, 3 And those who for the sake of purification are doers. 4 Who guard their sex 5 except with their spouses and slave-girls. The practice of carnal relations is lawful with them. 6 So whoever desires more than these two – they are crossing the limits. 7 and who are faithful to their trusts and to their pledges, 8 And they who carefully maintain their prayers - 9 These! they are the inheritors. 10 Who will inherit Paradise, and live in it for ever. 11 Man We did create from a quintessence (of clay); 12 Thereafter We made him (the offspring of Adam) as a Nutfah (mixed drops of the male and female sexual discharge) (and lodged it) in a safe lodging (womb of the woman). 13 and then We create out of the drop of sperm a germ-cell, and then We create out of the germ-cell an embryonic lump, and then We create within the embryonic lump bones, and then We clothe the bones with flesh - and then We bring [all] this into being as a new creation: hallowed, therefore, is God, the best of artisans! 14 Then after that you will most surely die. 15 Then verily on the Day of Judgment ye shall be raised up. 16 We have indeed fashioned above you seven paths. Never were We unaware of the task of creation. 17 And We sent down out of heaven water in measure and lodged it in the earth; and We are able to take it away. 18 With it, We produced for you gardens of palms and vines, yielding abundant fruit for you to eat. 19 And We also produced the tree which springs forth from Mount Sinai, containing oil and sauce for those that eat. 20 And lo! in the cattle there is verily a lesson for you. We give you to drink of that which is in their bellies, and many uses have ye in them, and of them do ye eat; 21 And on them, as well as in ships, ye ride. 22
