'O Messengers, eat of the good things and do righteousness; surely I know the things you do. 51 And verily this religion of yours is one religion, and I am your Lord, so fear Me. 52 But they split in their affair between them into sects, each party rejoicing in what is with them. 53 Wherefore leave thou them in their bewilderment for a season. 54 Do they think that what We extend to them of wealth and children 55 We provide them with the means of competing with each other in virtuous deeds, but they do not realize this. 56 Verily! Those who live in awe for fear of their Lord; 57 And they who believe in the signs of their Lord 58 who consider nothing equal to their Lord, 59 And those who give whatsoever they give, while their hearts are anxious that unto their Lord they are to be returners. 60 These race for the good things, and they shall win them in the race. 61 And We do not lay on any soul a burden except to the extent of its ability, and with Us is a book which speaks the truth, and they shall not be dealt with unjustly. 62 NAY, [as for those who have torn asunder the unity of faith] - their hearts are lost in ignorance of all this! But apart from that [breach of unity] they have [on their conscience even worse] deeds; and they will [continue to] commit them 63 Until when We lay hold of the luxuriant ones of them with the torment, and lo! then they are imploring! 64 [But they will be told] "Cry not in supplication today; for, behold, you shall not be succoured by Us! 65 "My Signs used to be rehearsed to you, but ye used to turn back on your heels- 66 In pride (they Quraish pagans and polytheists of Makkah used to feel proud that they are the dwellers of Makkah sanctuary Haram), talking evil about it (the Quran) by night. 67 Why did they not think over the message? Or has something come to them which had not come to their fathers? 68 Or is it, perchance, that they have not recognized their Apostle, and so they disavow him? 69 Or do they say: "There is madness in him"? Nay, he has brought them the truth - and the truth do most of them detest! 70 Had the truth followed their fancies, the heavens, the earth, and all who live in them would have surely been corrupted. No, We brought them their Remembrance; but from their Remembrance they turn away. 71 Or, do you ask a tribute from them? Your Lord's tribute is better. He is the Best of providers. 72 and, most surely, you are calling them to a straight path. 73 But those who do not believe in the Hereafter have indeed deviated from that path. 74 ۞ And if We show mercy to them and remove the distress they have, they would persist in their inordinacy, blindly wandering on. 75 And indeed We grasped them with punishment, so neither did they submit themselves to their Lord, nor do they cry humbly. 76 Until, when We open for them the gate of severe punishment, then lo! They will be plunged into destruction with deep regrets, sorrows and in despair. 77
