Blessed is He who could give you palaces and gardens wherein streams would flow, far better than what they want you to have. 10 No, they belied the Hour. We have prepared for him who belied the Hour a Blaze. 11 When it shall come into their sight from a distant place, they shall hear its vehement raging and roaring. 12 And when they are flung into a strait place thereof, bound up, they shall call therein unto death. 13 But they will be told, "Do not call today for one death, call for many deaths!" 14 Say thou: is that better or Garden of Abidance that hath been promised to the God-fearing? It shall be theirs as a recompense and a retreat. 15 Theirs therein shall be all that they wish for, as abiders; a promise from thy Lord to be asked for. 16 BUT [as for people who are oblivious of thy Sustainer's oneness] one Day He will gather them together with all that they [now] worship instead of God, and will ask [those to whom divinity was falsely ascribed]: "Was it you who led these My creatures astray, or did they by themselves stray from the right path?" 17 They will answer: "Limitless art Thou in Thy glory! It was inconceivable for us to take for our masters anyone but Thyself! But [as for them] Thou didst allow them and their forefathers to enjoy [the pleasures of] life to such an extent that they forgot all remembrance [of Thee]: for they were people devoid of all good." 18 Thus they will give you the lie regarding what ye say, then ye can neither avert (the doom) nor obtain help. And whoso among you doeth wrong, We shall make him taste great torment. 19 And the messengers whom We sent before thee were all (men) who ate food and walked through the streets: We have made some of you as a trial for others: will ye have patience? for Allah is One Who sees (all things). 20
