(Recount to them about the time) when Your Lord called Moses: "Go to the wrong-doing people, 10 the people of Pharaoh: do they have no fear?" 11 He said: "My Lord! I fear that they will brand me a liar. 12 and my breast will be straitened, and my tongue will not be loosed; so send to Aaron. 13 besides, they accuse me of a crime, and I fear that they may put me to death." 14 God said, "Indeed not; go both of you with Our signs, We shall be with you, listening [to your call]. 15 And go, both of you, unto Pharaoh and say, 'Behold, we bear a message from the Sustainer of all the worlds: 16 Send with us the Children of Isra'il? 17 [But when Moses had delivered his message, Pharaoh] said: "Did we not bring thee up among us when thou wert a child? And didst thou not spend among us years of thy [later] life? 18 And you commited what you did, and you are ungrateful!" 19 Said he, 'Indeed I did it then, being one of those that stray; 20 and I fled from you because I feared you. But [since] then my Sustainer has endowed me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and has made me one of [His] message-bearers. 21 And this is the past favour wherewith thou reproachest me: that thou hast enslaved the Children of Israel. 22 Said Pharaoh: "And what [and who] is that 'Sustainer of all the worlds'?" 23 Moses said, "Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if only you would be convinced." 24 Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said to those around: "Do you not hear (what he says)?" 25 Moses continued, "He is the Lord and the Lord of your forefathers." 26 (Pharaoh) said: 'Surely, the Messenger who has been sent to you is mad!' 27 He said, 'The Lord of the East and West, and what between them is, if you have understanding,' 28 Pharaoh said, "If you put forward any god other than me, I will surely put you in prison". 29 He said: What! even if I bring to you something manifest? 30 Pharaoh said, "Show it then, if you are telling the truth!" 31 So Moses threw down his staff and suddenly it appeared as a serpent, plainly visible. 32 And he drew forth his hand, and lo! it was white unto the beholders. 33
