And when thy Lord called Moses, saying: Go unto the wrongdoing folk, 10 The folk of Pharaoh. Will they not ward off (evil)? 11 He said: O my Lord! surely I fear that they will reject me; 12 And I shall be embarrassed, and my tongue will not speak plainly, therefor send for Aaron (to help me). 13 And they have upon me a [claim due to] sin, so I fear that they will kill me." 14 God said, "Indeed not; go both of you with Our signs, We shall be with you, listening [to your call]. 15 "So go forth, both of you, to Pharaoh, and say: 'We have been sent by the Lord and Cherisher of the worlds; 16 ‘That you let the Descendants of Israel go with us.’” 17 (Firon) said: Did we not bring you up as a child among us, and you tarried among us for (many) years of your life? 18 Yet you were ungrateful and have done the deed you did' 19 He said: I did it then when I was mistaken. 20 "So I fled from you when I feared you. But my Lord has granted me Hukman (i.e. religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood), and appointed me as one of the Messengers. 21 And [as for] that favour of which thou so tauntingly remindest me - [was it not] due to thy having enslaved the children of Israel?" 22 Pharaoh said: "And what is the 'Lord and Cherisher of the worlds'?" 23 Moses replied, "The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if you want to be certain". 24 [Pharaoh] said to those around him, "Do you not hear?" 25 Moses went on, "He is your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers." 26 Pharaoh said, "This messenger who has been sent to you is surely possessed!" 27 He said, 'The Lord of the East and West, and what between them is, if you have understanding,' 28 Pharaoh said, "If you put forward any god other than me, I will surely put you in prison". 29 and Moses asked, "Even if I show you a clear sign?" 30 Pharaoh said, "Show it then, if you are telling the truth!" 31 So Moosa put down his staff and it became a visible serpent. 32 And he drew forth his hand, and lo! it was white unto the beholders. 33
