And recite to them the news of Ibrahim. 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They replied: "We worship idols and are devoted to them." 71 He said, 'Do they hear you when you call, 72 'Can they benefit you or harm you' 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)." 74 He said: "Have you considered what you have been worshipping, 75 you and your forefathers -- 76 are my enemies? Not so the Lord of the Universe. 77 who created me, and Himself guides me, 78 and is the One who gives me to eat and to drink, 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me. 80 He will cause me to die and will bring me back to life. 81 And He Who, I long, shall forgive me my faults, on the Day of Requital. 82 My Lord! Vouchsafe me wisdom and unite me to the righteous. 83 And grant me an honourable mention in later generations; 84 Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss 85 and forgive my father; for he is one of the misguided; 86 "And do not disgrace me on the day when everyone will be raised." 87 on the Day of Judgment when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit 88 Except him who comes to Allah with a heart free (from evil). 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 And the hell shall be made manifest to the erring ones, 91 "And it shall be said to them: 'Where are the (gods) ye worshipped- 92 Other than God? Can they save you or even save themselves?" 93 Then they shall be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 and the army of satan will all be thrown headlong into hell. 95 And they, while contending therein, shall say: 96 "By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error 97 When we made you equal to the Lord of the worlds; 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 "'Now, then, we have none to intercede (for us), 100 And not a devoted friend. 101 But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers. 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 And lo, thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
