Recite unto them the story of Abraham: 69 Behold, he said to his father and his people: "What worship ye?" 70 They said, 'We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them. 71 He asked them, "Can the idols hear you when you pray to them 72 Or do they benefit or harm you? 73 They said: "No. But we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said: have ye observed that which ye worship 75 you, and your elderly fathers? 76 They are enemies to me except the Lord of all the Worlds 77 “The One Who created me, so He will guide me.” 78 He Who feedeth me and giveth me to drink. 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 who makes me to die, then gives me life, 81 and who, [hope, will forgive me my faults on Judgment Day! 82 O Lord, give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous, 83 and grant me the power to convey the truth unto those who will come after me, 84 and place me amongst the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss. 85 And forgive my father. Lo! he is of those who err. 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 The Day when neither wealth nor sons shall benefit 88 But to him who comes to God with a tranquil heart." 89 And Paradise will be brought near to the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2). 90 And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators, 91 And it shall be said unto them where is that which ye were wont to worship? 92 instead of God? Can these [things and beings] be of any help to you or to themselves?" 93 Then they shall be hurled therein, they and the seduced ones. 94 and so too the hosts of Iblis, all of them. 95 And they will say while they dispute with one another, 96 By Allah, of a truth we were in error manifest 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 It was nothing but the evildoers who led us astray. 99 Now we have none to intercede for us, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 If we could only return to the world and be among the believers." 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
