Relate the news of Abraham to them. 69 when he asked his father and his people, "What is that which you worship?" 70 They replied: 'We worship idols and continue cleaving to them' 71 He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" 72 "Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?" 73 They said: nay; but we found our fathers doing in this wise. 74 He said: Have you then considered what you have been worshipping: 75 you and those ancient forebears of yours? 76 Yet they are my enemies except the Lord of all the worlds 77 "Who created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 “And the One Who feeds me and gives me to drink.” 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 who makes me to die, then gives me life, 81 And He Who, I long, shall forgive me my faults, on the Day of Requital. 82 My Lord: Grant me wisdom, and join me with the good 83 give me a good name among later generations; 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 And forgive my father. Lo! he is of those who err. 86 Do not degrade me on the Day when they are resurrected. 87 The day when wealth and sons avail not (any man) 88 Except him who brings to Allah a clean heart [clean from Shirk (polytheism) and Nifaq (hypocrisy)]. 89 And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous. 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 "And it shall be said to them: 'Where are the (gods) ye worshipped- 92 Other than Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?" 93 Then they will be thrown on their faces into the (Fire), They and the Ghawun (devils, and those who were in error). 94 and the hosts of Iblis, all together. 95 And there and then, blaming one another, they [who had grievously sinned in life] will exclaim: 96 "We were clearly misguided 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of all Being. 98 yet they who have seduced us [into believing in you] are the truly guilty ones! 99 So now we have no intercessors 100 And not a devoted friend. 101 Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers... " 102 Surely, in that there is a sign, yet most of them do not believe. 103 Verily your Lord is mighty and merciful. 104
