And convey unto them the story of Abraham 69 when he asked his father and others, "What do you worship?" 70 They said, “We worship idols, and we keep squatting in seclusion before them.” 71 He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" 72 "Or do you good or harm?" 73 They said, "No, but our fathers worshipped them." 74 He said: "Do you observe that which you have been worshipping, 75 you and your forefathers -- 76 Yet they are my enemies except the Lord of all the worlds 77 who created me. It is He who guides me; 78 He Who feedeth me and giveth me to drink. 79 "And when I am ill, it is He Who cures me; 80 He who will cause me to die and bring me back to life; 81 "And Who, I hope will forgive me my faults on the Day of Recompense, (the Day of Resurrection)," 82 My Lord! Vouchsafe me wisdom and unite me to the righteous. 83 Make my words come true in the future. 84 Make me inherit the bountiful Paradise. 85 “And forgive my father* – he is indeed astray.” (His paternal uncle) 86 And disgrace me not on the day when they are raised 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 “Except he who presented himself before Allah, with a sound* heart.” (Intact or unblemished.) 89 For, [on that Day,] paradise will be brought within sight of the God-conscious, 90 whereas the blazing fire will be laid open before those who had been lost in grievous error; 91 they will be asked, "Where are those whom you worshipped 92 Instead of Allah? Can they help you or help themselves? 93 Thereupon they will be hurled into hell - they, as well as all [others] who had been lost in grievous error, 94 And the hosts of the Shaitan, all. 95 And they, while contending therein, shall say: 96 they will say, "By God, we were in clear error 97 When we made you equal to the Lord of the worlds; 98 No one but the sinners led us astray. 99 So none we have as intercessors. 100 Nor a true friend; 101 “So if only were we to go back, in order to become Muslims!” 102 Verily in this is a Sign but most of them do not believe. 103 And lo, thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
