Recite unto them the story of Abraham: 69 When he said to his father and his people, “What do you worship?” 70 They said: "We worship idols, and to them we are ever devoted." 71 (Abraham) asked: "Do they hear when you call them? 72 or do they profit you, or harm?' 73 They exclaimed: But we found our forefathers doing the same!" 74 He said: "Have you considered what you have been worshipping, 75 "You and your ancient fathers? 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 Who hath created me, and He guideth me. 78 He Who feedeth me and giveth me to drink. 79 and, whenever I am sick, heals me, 80 And He Who will cause me to die, then give me life; 81 And Who, I hope, will forgive me my mistakes on the day of judgment. 82 My Lord: Grant me wisdom, and join me with the good 83 give me a good name among later generations; 84 “And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity.” 85 And forgive my father, verily he is of the erring; 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 the day when neither wealth nor sons shall profit 88 except him who comes before Allah with a pure heart; 89 "To the righteous, the Garden will be brought near, 90 And hell will appear plainly to the erring. 91 they will be asked, "Where are those whom you worshipped 92 beside Allah? Can they be of any help to you, or even be of any help to themselves?" 93 Then the idols and those who strayed will be hurled into the Fire headlong, one upon another, 94 And all the armies of Iblis. (Satan) 95 They will say while contending therein, 96 "By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error 97 When we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 And none but the guilty led us astray; 99 Now we have no intercessors, 100 no loyal friend. 101 Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers... " 102 There is certainly a sign in that, but most of them would not believe: 103 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 104
