'Aad denied the messengers 123 When their brother Hud said to them: Will you not guard (against evil)? 124 I am a trustworthy messenger for you: 125 “Therefore fear Allah and obey me.” 126 And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds. 127 Do you build on every height a monument? Vain is it that you do: 128 and make for yourselves mighty castles, [hoping] that you might become immortal? 129 When you lay hands upon anyone, you do so as tyrants. 130 So fear Allah and obey me. 131 Fear Him who has bestowed on you what you know, 132 "He has aided you with cattle and children. 133 And orchards and springs. 134 Surely I fear for you the chastisement of a grievous day 135 They said: It is the same to us whether you admonish or are not one of the admonishers 136 This is not but the custom of the former peoples, 137 We will not be subjected to any chastisement." 138 And they denied him; therefor We destroyed them. Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers. 139 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 140
