'Aad denied the messengers 123 When their fellowman Hud said to them, “Do you not fear?” 124 Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you, 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 I do not ask for any payment for my preaching. I shall receive my reward from the Lord of the Universe. 127 Do you build over each high place a sign to amuse yourselves! 128 and make for yourselves mighty castles, [hoping] that you might become immortal? 129 "And when you seize, seize you as tyrants? 130 So fear Allah, and obey me. 131 and [thus] be conscious of Him who has [so] amply provided you with all [the good] that you might think of 132 succoured you with flocks and sons, 133 gardens and fountains. 134 for, verily, I fear lest suffering befall you on an awesome day!" 135 They said: It is all one to us whether thou preachest or art not of those who preach; 136 this is nothing but a habit of the ancients: 137 and we shall never be punished' 138 And so they gave him the lie: and thereupon We destroyed them. In this [story,] behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 139 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 140
