Ad cried lies to the Envoys 123 Their brother Hud asked them, "Why do you not have fear of God? 124 Verily I am unto you an apostle trusted. 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 "No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds. 127 Do you build monuments on every high place in vanity, 128 and erect castles hoping that you will live forever. 129 When you lay hands upon anyone, you do so as tyrants. 130 "Now fear Allah, and obey me. 131 Have fear of the One who has bestowed upon you all that you know. 132 Gave you increase of cattle and sons, 133 And gardens and watersprings. 134 'Indeed, I fear for you the chastisement of a dreadful day.' 135 They replied, "It makes no difference to us whether you preach or do not preach, 136 "This is no other than a customary device of the ancients, 137 "And we are not the ones to receive Pains and Penalties!" 138 So they belied him, so We destroyed them. Surely, in that there is a sign; yet most of them do not believe. 139 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 140
