The 'Aad belied the sent ones. 123 Recall, when their brother Hud said to them: "Have you no fear? 124 I am for you an honest Messenger. 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 I do not ask for any payment for my preaching. I shall receive my reward from the Lord of the Universe. 127 Build ye on every high place a monument for vain delight? 128 And do you take to yourselves underground reservoirs, in order to live for ever! 129 When you assault, you assault like tyrants! 130 “Therefore fear Allah, and obey me.” 131 and fear Him who has succoured you with what you know, 132 Hath aided you with cattle and sons. 133 and with gardens and springs. 134 "Truly I fear for you the Penalty of a Great Day." 135 They said: "It is the same to us whether thou admonish us or be not among (our) admonishers! 136 "This is no other than the false-tales and religion of the ancients, [Tafsir At-Tabari, Vol. 19, Page 97] 137 "And we are not the ones to receive Pains and Penalties!" 138 Eventually they gave the lie to him and We destroyed them. Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 139 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 140
