Thamood cried lies to the Envoys 141 Behold, their brother Salih said to them: "Will you not fear (Allah)? 142 Verily I am unto you an apostle trusted. 143 So fear God and follow me. 144 "No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism), my reward is only from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 145 "Will ye be left secure, in (the enjoyment of) all that ye have here? 146 "In gardens and springs. 147 And tilled fields and heavy-sheathed palm-trees, 148 carving comfortable houses out of the mountains? 149 “Therefore fear Allah and obey me.” 150 "And follow not the bidding of those who are extravagant,- 151 who do corruption in the earth, and set not things aright.' 152 They said: Thou art but one of the bewitched; 153 "Thou art no more than a mortal like us: then bring us a Sign, if thou tellest the truth!" 154 (Saleh) said: "Here is a she-camel. She has a right of drinking water, and you have a right of drinking it on appointed turns. 155 Do not touch her with malice so that punishment of a dreadful day seizes you' 156 So they hamstrung her, and in the morning could only regret. 157 But the Penalty seized them. Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. 158 Your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 159
