(The tribe of) Thamud denied the messengers (of Allah) 141 when their brother Salih said to them, 'Will you not be godfearing? 142 I am for you a faithful Messenger, 143 "So fear Allah, and obey me. 144 “And I do not ask from you any fee for it; my reward is only upon the Lord Of The Creation.” 145 Will you be left secure in this, 146 amidst [these] gardens and springs 147 And tilled fields and heavy-sheathed palm-trees, 148 And hew ye out houses in the mountains skilfully! 149 “Therefore fear Allah and obey me.” 150 Do not obey the orders of the transgressors 151 Who spread corruption in the earth, and reform not. 152 They replied: "You are nothing but one of those who are bewitched; 153 Thou art but a mortal like us. So bring some token if thou art of the truthful. 154 He said: yonder is a she-camel; to her a drink, and to you a drink, each on a day known. 155 Do not touch her with malice so that punishment of a dreadful day seizes you' 156 But they hamstrung her, then regretted; 157 and torment struck them. In this there is evidence of the Truth, yet many people do not have any faith. 158 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 159

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
