The dwellers of the forest also rejected the messengers. 176 Shu'ayb said to them, "Will you not fear God? 177 I am for you a faithful Messenger, so fear you God, and obey you me. 178 be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me! 179 "No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds. 180 ۞ Give full measure, and cause no loss to others. 181 And weigh with a balance straight. 182 "And withhold not things justly due to men, nor do evil in the land, working mischief. 183 And keep your duty unto Him Who created you and the generations of the men of old. 184 They said: Thou art but one of the bewitched; 185 Thou art but a mortal like us, and lo! we deem thee of the liars. 186 So cause a fragment of the sky to fall on us, if you are truthful." 187 He said, 'My Lord knows very well what you are doing.' 188 But they denied him, and We seized them with the torment of the Day of Shadowing (when the cloud had rained down fire). It was indeed the torment of a terrible day! 189 In this [story,] behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 190 And lo! thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 191
