The dwellers of the wood belied the sent ones. 176 when their brother Shu'ayb said unto them: "Will you not be conscious of God? 177 "I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust. 178 be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me! 179 And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds. 180 ۞ Fill up the measure, and be not cheaters, 181 Weigh on an even balance. 182 and do not defraud people in their property or spread evil in the land. 183 but be conscious of Him who has created you, just as [He created] those countless generations of old!" 184 They said: "You are no more than one of those who have been bewitched, 185 You are only a human being like ourselves. Indeed we think you are a liar. 186 "Now cause a piece of the sky to fall on us, if thou art truthful!" 187 Shuayb said: "My Lord knows well all what you do." 188 They rejected him and then the torment of the gloomy day struck them. It was certainly a great torment. 189 Verily, in this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 190 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 191
