Now, behold, this [divine writ] has indeed been bestowed from on high by the Sustainer of all the worlds: 192 Which the trusted spirit descended with 193 to your heart, so that you will warn (the people of the dangers of disobeying God). 194 in clear Arabic speech. 195 Without doubt it is (announced) in the mystic Books of former peoples. 196 And was this not a sign for them, that the scholars of the Descendants of Israel may recognise this Prophet? 197 If We had sent it down on a barbarian 198 In order that he read it to them, even then they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus it passes through the hearts of the criminals. 200 They will not believe in it to the extent that they see the painful punishment. 201 It shall come to them of a sudden, while they perceive it not; 202 Then they will say: "Shall we be respited?" 203 What! do they still seek to hasten on Our punishment? 204 But hast thou ever considered [this]: If We do allow them to enjoy [this life] for some years, 205 and then the promised punishment fell upon them, 206 what will it then avail them, the enjoyment of days they were given? 207 And withal, never have We destroyed any community unless it had been warned 208 By way of reminder; and We never are unjust. 209 And it is not the Shayatin (devils) who have brought it (this Quran) down, 210 it behoves them not, neither are they able. 211 The satans are barred from listening to anything from the heavens. 212 So do not invoke with Allah another deity and [thus] be among the punished. 213 And warn your nearest relations, 214 And lower your wing to those who follow you of the believers. 215 And if they disobey thee, say thou: verily I am quit of that which ye work. 216 Have trust in the Mighty, the Merciful, 217 Who observes you when you rise (to pray) 218 and observes your movements among those who prostrate themselves. 219 Verily! He, only He, is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower. 220 O people, shall I tell you on whom it is that satans descend? 221 They come down on every guilty impostor. 222 The satans try to listen to the heavens but many of them are liars. 223 And the poets -- the perverse follow them; 224 Hast thou not seen how they stray in every valley, 225 And how they say that which they do not? 226 Except those [poets] who believe and do righteous deeds and remember Allah often and defend [the Muslims] after they were wronged. And those who have wronged are going to know to what [kind of] return they will be returned. 227
