And most surely this is a revelation from the Lord of the worlds. 192 Which the trustworthy Ruh [Jibrael (Gabriel)] has brought down; 193 upon your heart (Prophet Muhammad), in order to be one of the warners, 194 In plain Arabic language. 195 (a revelation embodied) in the scriptures of the ancients. 196 Is it not a sign to them that the learned men of the Israelites know it? 197 And if We had revealed it (this Quran) unto any of the non-Arabs, 198 And he had read it unto them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus have We caused this [message] to pass [unheeded] through the hearts of those who are lost in sin: 200 They will not believe it until they behold the painful punishment. 201 But the (Penalty) will come to them of a sudden, while they perceive it not; 202 Then they will say: "Can we be respited?" 203 What, do they seek to hasten Our chastisement? 204 Have you then considered if We let them enjoy themselves for years, 205 And then what they were promised comes upon them, 206 That which they were made to enjoy shall not avail them? 207 And We destroyed not a city but it had its warners. 208 By way of admonition, and We have never been oppressors. 209 And the devils have not brought the revelation down. 210 it behoves them not, neither are they able. 211 Indeed they have been removed far from even (a chance of) hearing it. 212 So invoke not with Allah another ilah (god) lest you be among those who receive punishment. 213 And warn, [O Muhammad], your closest kindred. 214 And lower your wing to those who follow you of the believers. 215 And if they disobey thee, say thou: verily I am quit of that which ye work. 216 And put thy trust on the Exalted in Might, the Merciful,- 217 Who observes you when you rise (to pray) 218 And watches your movements among those who prostrate in prayer. 219 Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing. 220 Shall I inform you, (O people!), on whom it is that the evil ones descend? 221 They descend on every guilty impostor. 222 The satans try to listen to the heavens but many of them are liars. 223 As for the poets, only those who go astray follow them. 224 Have you not seen how they wander in every valley, 225 and that they [so often] say what they do not do [or feel]? 226 Except those who believe and do good and remember Allah much, and defend themselves after they are oppressed; and they who act unjustly shall know to what final place of turning they shall turn back. 227
True are the words of God the Almighty.
