The Romans (Al-Room)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ AlifLaamMeem. 1 The Romans have been defeated 2 in a land close by. But, after their defeat they shall become the victors. 3 Within a few years. With Allah is the Decision, in the past and in the Future: on that Day shall the Believers rejoice- 4 with the help of God. He helps whom He pleases: He is the Mighty, and the Merciful. 5 It is a promise of God; and God does not go back on His promise. Yet most men do not understand: 6 They know only the outside appearance of the life of the world (i.e. the matters of their livelihood, like irrigating or sowing or reaping, etc.), and they are heedless of the Hereafter. 7 Do they not ponder about their own selves? God has created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them for a purpose and for an appointed time? Yet many deny they will ever meet with their Lord. 8 Have they not traveled through the earth and observed how was the end of those before them? They were greater than them in power, and they plowed the earth and built it up more than they have built it up, and their messengers came to them with clear evidences. And Allah would not ever have wronged them, but they were wronging themselves. 9 Evil was the end of the harmdoers, because they belied the verses of Allah and mocked at them. 10
