The Romans (Al-Room)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ A. L. M. 1 The Romans have been defeated (by the Persians) 2 In a land close by; but they, (even) after (this) defeat of theirs, will soon be victorious- 3 in a few years. To God belongs the Command before and after, and on that day the believers shall rejoice 4 With the help of Allah; He helps whom He pleases; and He is the Mighty, the Merciful; 5 [It is] the promise of Allah. Allah does not fail in His promise, but most of the people do not know. 6 They know only the visible worldly life; and are totally neglectful of the Hereafter. 7 What, have they not considered within themselves? God created not the heavens and the earth, and what between them is, save with the truth and a stated term; yet most men disbelieve in the encounter with their Lord. 8 Have they not traveled through the earth and observed how was the end of those before them? They were greater than them in power, and they plowed the earth and built it up more than they have built it up, and their messengers came to them with clear evidences. And Allah would not ever have wronged them, but they were wronging themselves. 9 Then evil was the end of those who did evil, because they belied the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, Messengers, etc.) of Allah and made mock of them. 10
