۞ "Bring ye up", it shall be said, "The wrong-doers and their wives, and the things they worshipped- 22 Besides Allah, then lead them to the way to hell. 23 and stop them there for questioning: 24 They will be asked, "Why do you not help each other?" 25 indeed, on that Day they will surrender themselves. 26 They will then turn towards each other (and start wrangling). 27 They say: Lo! ye used to come unto us, imposing, (swearing that ye spoke the truth). 28 They will reply: "Nay, ye yourselves had no Faith! 29 "Nor had we any authority over you. Nay, it was ye who were a people in obstinate rebellion! 30 “So the Word of our Lord has proved true upon us; we will surely have to taste (the punishment).” 31 And we led you to deviation; indeed, we were deviators." 32 Therefore, on that Day they will all share Our punishment. 33 As such We shall deal with the evildoers. 34 Verily when it was said unto them: there is no god but Allah, they ever grew stiff-necked. 35 and would say: "Shall we, then, give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" 36 (They say so although) he brought the Truth and confirmed the veracity of the Messengers. 37 you shall surely taste the painful punishment, 38 And be rewarded but only for what you had done, 39 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 40 For them is a Sustenance determined, 41 a variety of delicious fruits; and they shall be honoured 42 In Gardens of peace. 43 Facing one another on thrones, 44 a cup from a spring being passed round to them, 45 clear, delightful to those who drink it: 46 There will neither be any harm in it for their body nor will it intoxicate their mind. 47 With them will be spouses, modest of gaze and beautiful of eye, 48 As though they were eggs hidden. 49 Then one turned to the other in an enquiry. 50 The speaker among them said, “I had a companion.” 51 who used to say: -- Are you also one of those who confirm the Truth (of life after death)? 52 When we are dead and have become dust and bones, are we indeed going to be requited? 53 He says, 'Are you looking down?' 54 So he looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire. 55 He says, 'By God, wellnigh thou didst destroy me; 56 If not for the favor of my Lord, I would have been of those brought in [to Hell]. 57 He will ask his companion, "Did you not say that there would only be one death 58 Save our first death, and are we not to be tormented? 59 This will indeed be great happiness. 60 For the like of this, then, let the workers work. 61 Is that better as a hospitality, or the Tree of Ez-Zakkoum? 62 Lo! We have appointed it a torment for wrong-doers. 63 Indeed it is a tree that sprouts from the base of hell. 64 its fruit [as repulsive] as satans' heads; 65 So indeed they will eat from it, and fill their bellies with it. 66 Then they will have on top of it a mixture of boiling water. 67 Then shall their return be to the (Blazing) Fire. 68 Truly they found their fathers on the wrong Path; 69 So they (too) were rushed down on their footsteps! 70 And there had already strayed before them most of the former peoples, 71 And indeed We sent among them warners (Messengers); 72 Therefore see what sort of fate befell those who were warned! 73 Save single-minded slaves of Allah. 74
